Avoid phishing scams and stay safe.

AAA Mid States

Understanding how “phishing” scams work can help you keep your personal and financial data secure. Phishing involves email messages pretending to be from legitimate companies that try to get you to provide account numbers, passwords, or personal information.

If you're not sure an email about one of your bank accounts is legitimate:

  • DO call the company’s phone number or log on to your account directly from the company’s website.
  • DON’T click on any links in these emails
  • DO delete any email asking you to provide details about you or your account.
  • DO check your financial institute’s websites for information about what to do if you suspect your account has been phished.
  • DON’T let the convenience of being able to manage your money online mean you take your online security for granted.
